Yesterday Carondelet sent Henriquez a letter transmitting the royal edict sent from Aranjuez on the (the ms. is torn here) of May of this year, informing him of the birth of a son to the queen on March 28, baptized Felipe Maria Francisco. Carondelet orders that in honor of their queen, the inhabitants illuminate their houses the nights of November 2, 3 and 4 and that a Mass be sung. (Ms. torn, it appears to read as follows) In reply Henriquez says that he knows that as soon as the first bishop of Havana is informed he would order the prompt fulfillment of the order. Henriquez hastens to fulfill it.
