Maxwell, Father (James)
to Father (Pierre Joseph) Didier, (O.S.B.) Maxwell thanks Didier for the apples which he sent. As for the flour which he announced, Maxwell does not know what color it is because no one has been able to tell him that it was sent. If Maxwell does not have bread to eat up to its arrival, he will let himself die of hunger and then call on Didier to bury him as he remarked in his last letter in joking about the epidemic which he thought had killed Didier. The latest news from New Orleans confirms what Maxwell told Didier in regard to Father (Paul de) St. Pierre.
