Valdez, Father Juan de Dios Marriages between persons of different religions are forbidden and even though they are permitted by the instruction of November 30, 1792, it is always by dispensation. Samuel offers to live with his intended wife and children according to the Catholic religion; this is one of the necessary circumstances but there must also be grave and almost always public cause according to the expression of Pope Benedict XIV in his diocesan synod. Since this does not appear it seems that the petition cannot be granted. A.D.S. (Spanish)

Penalver y Cardenas, Bishop Luis The dispensation is not granted, since no cause has been given to merit it. A.D.S. (Spanish)
