Brother Aidan's Extracts

NAMES IN RELIGION

"Because Brothers had same names in the United States, Canada and Ste. Croix, Moreau decided May 29, 1849 -- published on June 29, 1849. "If a brother goes from one province to another, he keeps his name which should not be given again in the country he has left as long as he lives. In the United States the Brothers will take names in the letters A, E, J, N, R."

-- Father Moreau's Circular Letter (1849)
