Chronicles of Notre Dame du Lac
Most chronicles of religious houses resemble diaries;
the writer of the chronicle records daily events and
records them day by day. In writing his chronicles,
Father Sorin apparently waited until the end of the
year (and sometimes longer) and wrote all at once
what he remembered of the events of that period. As
a result, Sorin's account does not contain an accumulation
of unconnected details; rather it presents a coherent
interpretation of what happened from the point of view
of one of the most important participants.
