  Letter regarding Manuel and Raymond Sanchez. Cavanaugh asks Burns to get passports for them in Washington as quickly as possible since their mom is sick and they need to go to Cuba. Cavanaugh asks Burns to speed things up in Washington so that the two boys can see their mother as soon as possible.

Even at Notre Dame the effect of the flu epidemic can be felt. 6 Students died and Sister Claudine and Brother Florian are sick as well. He also writes about the military men on campus which are a growing nuisance for the University, etc.

  Answer to a letter by Byrne. The "Catholic Citizen" informs Byrne that Maurice Francis Egan has written an article for the newspaper in 1891 but Fr. Hudson did not. Byrne's inquiry about cartoons used in the paper prior to 1891 is answered in that fashion that they raely used cartoons before 1892 and that the cartoon Byrne is looking for has been most likely published by a different paper.
