This is not to say that he wasn't a fighter: he had undergone military training without protest. (Merton's article is a great thumb sketch of Franz Jaegerstaetter's beliefs).

Parr says that this statement was so astounding in its implications that he couldn't believe it had been said. Parr says that "The Crime of Silence" by Gordon sees the Cardinal in rather a worse light than Franz Josef Rarkowski.

Letter to Gordon Zahn ~ Would love to see a copy of Gordon's article on Vietnam in WORLDVIEW. Is waiting for the contract from Holt, Reinhart and Winston (Gordon's publishers). Has had back and forth correspondence with Miss Reese of H. R. and W. re: clarifying contract, but now correspondence has stopped. Asks if Gordon would mind sending his publishers a letter lighting a fire under them to get the ball rolling again.
