A "flat copy" of THE HOLOCAUST. (Third letter attached) ~ The flat copy discusses the annihilation of Jews during World War II. It is the author's belief that the invasion of Russia in June 1941 (which doomed the Jews of Europe) unleased the frenzied sadism at the center of Nazi "ideology."

He speaks of the PASTORAL CONSTITUTION.

The memories which haunt Dorland, the director of Hochhuth's play-within a-play, is a former RAF pilot who was brought down in one of the raids. He was confronted with the horrors he and his colleagues were committing. Now, he is engaged in a fruitless effort to dissuade his son from his commitment to the objectives of the NATO nuclear forces of which he is a part.
