  A "flat copy" of THE HOLOCAUST. (Third letter attached) ~ The flat copy discusses the annihilation of Jews during World War II. It is the author's belief that the invasion of Russia in June 1941 (which doomed the Jews of Europe) unleased the frenzied sadism at the center of Nazi "ideology."

  He "came out" safely and with a headache, joking that it was likely from a drug slipped to him. He stayed in a hotel used by Stalin, Truman and Churchill, and jokes that this is living with class. ~ Germany

  Article studies the mutual influence of sociology and the Church by looking at contemporary history. Looks at three particular issues concerning the new historical forms within the Church: an emerging ecumenical attitude, a current concern about the personal, and a growing appreciation of feminine virtues.

  SERMON ON TWELFTH SUNDAY AFTER TRINITY - 13 Aug, 1967 ~ He says that mentioning the expression, "conscientious objection" is still taboo among the Catholics on the parish level. He uses a quote which says, "Blind obedience cannot excuse those who yield to them."

  An article entitled GEMUETLICHKEIT ON THE ROCKS. ~ Gordon addresses the topic of racism. He says that "white racism has finally created its counterpart in a black racism that is every bit as unjust in nature and no less categorical in its application." He says it would be wise to look more deeply into the shocking events of the summer to see what lessons might be learned before the next outbreak of violence tells us it is too late again.

  An essay entitled: "CATHOLIC AND PACIFIST: A CONTRADICTION IN TERMS?" ~ Gordon found it disturbing that a priest at a major Jesuit University read from Pius XII's 1956 Christmas which seemed to exclude CO as a Catholic Chrisitain behavior, instead of reading more recent statements on the issue. He speaks of the PASTORAL CONSTITUTION.

  An essay entitled "The Bigger They Are. . ." ~ He feels that Hochhuth is saying something that we very much need to hear. The memories which haunt Dorland, the director of Hochhuth's play-within a-play, is a former RAF pilot who was brought down in one of the raids. He was confronted with the horrors he and his colleagues were committing. Now, he is engaged in a fruitless effort to dissuade his son from his commitment to the objectives of the NATO nuclear forces of which he is a part.

  Letter to the Pope from Jim, letter to Gordon from Jim ~ 12/26--Jim writes the Pope for clarification in his Christmas message, saying "Peace is not pacifism." Jim says he thinks this is a mistake of translation, but he wants to clarify and he offers a defense of pacifism. 2/4--Jim writes to Gordon thanking him for his contribution and tells of his disappointment with the Pope's peace statement. He says that a copy of the letter he sent to the Pope is enclosed and he hopes for a response. He says that Gordon's article for THE PILOT was good and he should circulate it to other publications. He says he does not know of potential donors for a Franz Jaegerstaetter play.

  A letter to Gordon. ~ Garcia says that the search for "Truth is a beautiful quest which gives us an inner liberation and a spiritual conscientiousness which uplifts us from the natural world and into the spiritual world." He is interested in hearing what Gordon has to say about war and the Christian and would like Gordon's book WAR, CONSCIENCE, AND DISSENT to be sent and billed to him.

" Gordon goes on the make this confession and elaborate on its implications.

The paper is a reflection on the past of CPF, its history, its accomplishments, past and current events, its problems and the direction for its future.
