Nagle undertook an appraisal of 'the state of the question' regarding Catholic teaching and attitudes on war (Morality and Modern Warfare, Helicon, 1960)." This is an up-dated appraisal of the state of the question in that the question has broadened to include all forms of modern warfare. Gordon says that "we need much more emphasis upon action even at the sacrifice of some of the philosophical and theological niceties to which we Catholics are so addicted. "

  Must Revolution be Violent? ~ A review by Gordon of THE RIGHT OF REVOLUTION by Truman Nelson. ~ Zahn writes that although he finds no fault with Nelson's argument, he does question Nelson's slip from "right of revolution" to assuming that a sucessful revolution must be a violent one. Talks of Nelson's genocidal side in the name of preserving a goal or ideal.   Reporter for U.S. Catholic ~ "Behind the Catholic Peace Fellowship" ~ Article in U.S. Catholic about CPF and its efforts. ~ The article explains the CPF's stance of non-violence, specifically the personal convictions of Jim Forest and Tom Cornell. It describes them as radicals, not in the hippie way, rather as opponents to the Vietnam War. Gordon is cited as saying that the Fellowship has been unsuccessful in influencing the American hierarchy. It discusses more of CPF's philosophy, the pamphlets it has available, and goes into the personal histories of Jim and Tom. He would like more specific information such as the length of the talk, specific topic preferred, etc. He is now Professor of Sociology at the University of Massachusetts - Boston.

  At Kohl's beverage center last Thursday night three robbers held up the clerk and customers making making off with over $100. They exchanged gunfire with the clerk before escaping and the final note of the article is that the robbers were three "Negroes" in their early twenties. ~ WI
