The Bishop Decrees:
1.) that the collectorship ledgers of the parish of St. Louis be
delivered to Father Ubaldo Delgado, Recollect Franciscan, in order
that he may check them since Father Quintanilla began his charge
until July 31, 1795.
2.) That Father Ubaldo is to draw up a balance of what is due to
the participants and to compare the parochial ledgers that will be
presented by the Pastor.

Delgado, Father Ubaldo
to Bishop Penalver y Cardenas
(New Orleans)
Ubaldo states: 1.) That he examined the ledger of receipts of the
parish of St. Louis from January 1791 to July 31, 1795 and compared
them with the ledger of the parish. 2.) That from this
examination there results the present statement, in which appears
the income of each participant and the list of the burials made on
alms. 3.) That these ledgers include only the receipts from
burials, stipends and votive masses since no offerings are made at
the baptisms, and the "relaciones" belong to the pastor as well as
the banns of marriage. 4.) That there is no proof that the
participants have been paid and Ubaldo does not know if it is usual
to demand it. 5.) That he has carried out the commission as he
was ordered. The Bishop will dispose of the matter, as it seems
suitable.
Signed by Father Ubaldo Delgado
--To this is added a decree by Bishop Penalver y Cardenas, on Oct.
9, 1795, ordering Father Quintanilla to prove with documents that
he paid fully the income due to the treasury of the church and the
other participants.
Signed by the Bishop.
--To this is added a note by Rivas certifying that the above copy
was drawn up by Bishops order.
--There follows the itemized accounts made by Father Ubaldo
Delgado.

1795 (______)
Quintanilla, Father Luis
to Bishop Penalver y Cardenas
(New Orleans)
Father Quintanilla, in charge of the collectorship of this
parish, states that he has carried out the Bishop's orders of Oct.
9 in the following way:
1). That he paid to the "benefit" 4.607 "pesos" 6 "reales" of its
income as it appears from the document of the vice trustee which he
is presenting. The difference results from "la Quarta Episcopal"
taken by Dr. Theodoro Thirso and some burials to be charged.
2). 2.690 "pesos" and 5 "reales" of the income of the Sabrica with
the receipt of its churchwarden for 2.636 "pesos" and 6 1/2
"reales." The little difference results from the same burials to
be charged.
3). The charge for the singers, acolytes, sacristan and sexton
with the document he is presenting.
4). Finally, that he did not make note of "la Quarta Episcopal"
from Sept. 1792 to June 1793 because Dr. Theodoro thirso did not
give it nor was "La Quarta Episcopal" ever charged.
Signed: by Father Luis de Quintanilla.
--To this is added a decree by Bishop Penalver that the documents
have been handed in and that, after examined, he will dispose of
the suitable.
Signed : by the Bishop.
--To this is added a note by Rivas certifying that the above decree
was issued and signed by Bishop Penalver on Oct. 2, 1795.
--To this is added another note by Rivas that on the same day he
notified Father Quintanilla of the above decree.

The Bishop states:
1). That he examined the accounts of the collectorship of the
parish of St. Louis in the charge of Father Luis de Quintanilla
from January '91 to July of this year inclusive, and the gloss made
by Father Ubaldo Delgado with the proving documents.
2). That he approves them and that the burials to be charged must
appear in the new account as arrers(?), because of the delay of the
