Father Pierre (Josef) Didie(r), O.S.B. of the Congregation of St. Mauro, pastor of St. Louis, died September 2. (Penalver) sent a letter on September 4 to Nicolas M(ari)a Vidal and having obtained his consent by his answer of today, (Penalver) appoints Father Pedro Jenin, pastor of Arcas, as pastor of St. Louis. Father Isidro Quintero certifies this as secretary.

On September 2, Didie(r) died in New Orleans. There is no one here and it is necessary to take some one from another parish to fill it as the faithful there are less united. The most fitting person is Jenin who knows French, English and Spanish. (Penalver) asks vidal to obtain the appointment through the Vice-Patron and send it. He has asked the king three times to replace those whose time has been completed and those deceased; he has received an answer to two requests, and circumstances have delayed the sending of priests so badly needed in the colony.
