Hassett, Father Thomas
to Man(ue)l de Salcedo In a letter of January 18 Hassett sent a copy of the letter which Bishop (Luis) Penalver y Cardenas sent to Carlos Howard on October 31, 1801 and the answer of November 5 about the disposition of the balance of deceased soldiers of the Regiment not over 200 reales, asking that Salcedo assist in getting the required approval. In the answer to this Salcedo explained that he could give no reply regarding the order given by Colonel Pedro Piernas. The present commandant having assured Hasset that he had no order nor information, Hassett turns again to Salcedo to act on it as the delay is injurious to the souls of the deceased. A. Draft S.
