Hassett, Father Thomas Investigation of the wishes of the tributary pastors of the province about whether they should go or stay at the taking over by the French Republic. Also of the furnishings, etc. of their respective churches and the resources.
--------
Mangan, Father Patrick
to Father Thomas Hassett Mangan received Hassett's letter of June 10 with the affidavit of the decree of the 6th with a copy of the edict about the surrender of this province to the French Republic. In the event of recession his intention is to go to Spanish territory and to live and die in the service of their Catholic king. As to the furnishings and goods of the church he had turned over everything for inventory to Father Juan Olivier, who remains in charge of Mangan's parish while Mangan's health compels him to be absent. As to the resources they are small and badly paid; it would be well to correct this in order to defray the expenses of the church which as he has said in the past is in a very sad state as are the fences of the cemetery and rectory. --------
Lennan, Father Francisco
to Father Thomas Hasset(t) Since leaving the Royal College of Irish Nobles at Salamanca Lennan's intentions have been to serve His Catholic Majesty faithfully and loyally and his present determination is to continue in his service. As for the inventory which Hassett asks for Lennan cannot make it now as the majordomo of the church has recently died. A.L.S. (Spanish)
--------
Maguire, Father Juan
to Father Thomas Hassett In answer to Hassett's letter of June 10, Maguire replies that his feelings are to serve their Catholic King and follow his banner to Havana or wherever he indicates. A.L.S. (Spanish)
