  Károly inquires about the possibility to interview ALG in the Catholic Program of the Radio Free Europe.   Gábor is glad to note that he got a one year appoitment at UC Irvine in the History Department where he will teach Russian history. His job at UCLA is ending soon and the university doesn't have the money to keep him there. Unfortunately they never intended to hire him as a full professor just as a sub, who teaches freshmen courses -- a fact he just found out recently--. He would appreciate it if ALG would inform him of any job openings in academia he knows about. Hungarian

  Jenő has received the guide about ALG's book on the history of the two Hungarian universities and has already published it in their Hungarian Historical Review, including a photo of ALG. He sends information on the Hungarian Historical Review and asks ALG to be a member of its editorial board. Should ALG refuse the offer, Jenő is to ask Domonkos Laci, ALG's former student, instead. Although part of the fee that the paper pays to contributors from Hungary goes to the treasure-house of the Hungarian state, these writers nevertheless broaden the spectrum of the paper.   Sándor received ALG's note together with Mrs. Kelly's letter. He asks ALG to inform in a few lines Mrs. Kelly that the case of her husband in Rome is going to close down soon and a response will be sent to Los Angeles Ordinariate. Sadly there has been a flux away from the altar in the church recently. But these marriages often don't last long. Therefore Sándor proposes to be very cautious when granting imprimaturs to people who once left the shrine. He looks forward to meet and talk again to ALG in July. Hungarian

  Prof. Vayer begs pardon for not writing sooner but he has been busy organizing the conference. He encloses a prospectus about it. He asks if ALG would visit Budapest at the end of September. Vayer thanks ALG for the picture he sent of himself, the information booklet of the Medieval Institute, and the rich Almanach. The appointment at Princeton will become due only after the conference.   Instead of a C.V. József itemizes his many awards and accomplishments that are all related to research in biology. Unfortunately there is not enough funding and no ambience of scientific research in Europe, particularly in the communists-flooded Italy. Since many scientists have escaped Italy in the past couple of years to move to the United States, József inquires from ALG about the possibility of working at the University of Notre Dame's biology department. Milan Halmos, medical doctor at Youngstown, informed him that the department is interested in Phylo-Ontogenesis. Among others, József is doing research on the reversibility of the involuntary nervous system, which proves the existence of original sin. He has some plans to leave Europe due to the current political upheaval there but, at the same time, he has always had an aversion towards America. József asks ALG to contrast the realities and possibilites at Notre Dame with his credentials as an absolute believer. In the long run, József offers Notre Dame the solution to many of the problems Church and Humanity combats. He asks ALG's advice in this regard. Hungarian

  The president along with the board of the Árpád Academy is glad to greet its members. ALG, who was the first elected president of the Academy, due to his many engagements of other sort, has resigned. But he will, in the future, widely support the work of the Institute. The president attaches to this letter a draft of the various departments the board is planning to establish soon and asks its members to send in their reccommendations for new fellows. Hungarian

  Zoltán thanks ALG for the letter and begs pardon for not writing sooner. He showed the letter to their old teacher, who also expects news from ALG. Zoltán is happy to hear about ALG's nice career but is sad for not being familiar with ALG's work. Now he teaches and educates young people, with considerable success, and only when he retires he plans to read all ALG's books. He hopes to see ALG sometimes in the future and invites him to Budapest, Hungary. Hungarian

  Klára's visit at the Ambrosiana Library two years ago was unsuccessful since she was informed that a large part of their material is not disclosed yet. So she welcomes ALG's idea to microfilm Ambrosiana's every manuscript and original text. She agrees with ALG concerning the Ford scholarship. She would apply but she is sure that her application will be blocked by the authorities somewhere along the line. Therefore she suggests to try a different approach where the initiative would come from abroad, such as an outside institution inviting her through her job at the Széchényi Public Library. Their Corvina tome is expected to be a huge success upon its arrival in September so Klára encourages ALG to order it now in order to receive a volume. She also asks ALG's advice on English-language requirements at the Ford-foundation. Klára thanks for the offer. Hungarian

  Henrik would appreciate it if ALG would intercede in his favor at the Medieval Philosphy Congress held in Montreal this summer. He will be an invited speaker there but he doesn't have enough money to buy the airplane tickets from Frankfurt, Germany, to Montreal, Canada. The Hungarian government will provide him with visas, official passport, $70 for expenses, and a ticket to Frankfurt. He also requests information concerning cheap accomodation in Montreal. Hungarian

Klára and her husband are publishing their new book, called Corvinas Abroad, with 145 color reproductions. She invites ALG to Budapest where the giveaways of the war have completely dissapeared. He has heard the news that Prof. Szezesniak Boleslaw works at the University of Notre Dame who deals with the travel of Julianus. Should ALG meet the professor, he is to advice him about György's recent monograph on the same subject. M.   Béla's initiative to print in the United States the collective poems of the Hungarian poet, Mécs László, in one volume will probably be a great success. There are many orders for it already. But the printing needs a legal framework. He asks ALG and the Premontré Order, at large, to take over the monitoring of Mécs's earnings. Béla has made arrangements for publishing it with Wass Albert's Hungarian Literary Guild and encloses the letter he sent to him. Now Béla waits for ALG's decision whether to pool one's resources through the Order is a viable idea. Hungarian

  Béla has just received Mécs László's letter from Hungary in which he authorizes the publishing of his poems in America. Béla recommends the book advertised in local newspapers. He also suggests that the members of the Premontré Order in America establish a Mécs László Fund and claim sole ownership of the Fund. ALG would be the president of the committe. Béla asks ALG if he would help in the fundraising to collect the necessary money needed for publishing the book. He sends the plans of future costs and revenues of this proposition. Hungarian

  Imre thanks ALG for his letter and advice concerning the publishing of a monograph about Transylvania, Romania. He is sorry to note that neither the Vienna people nor he doesn't know where the analecta Praemonstratensia is. May be Hugó can help. Imre would be obliged if ALG would send him a picture of Saint Elisabeth. The Caritas Internationalis Wien Delegation is subsidizing Mécs László to a great extent as they made arrangements for him to get a small pension. Imre encloses the poets letter in which he talks about initiating the funds for his collection of poems. But Mécs never asked for individual subsidy. Hungarian

  Béla is sorry for not writing sooner, but he was busy with the Mécs correspondence. He sends information concerning the draft of the contract, worded by himself and already signed by the writer/publisher Wass Albert. He hopes Mécs László will sign it as well. Béla is sorry to hear that ALG doesn't want to monitor the publishing of the volume as it's too risky to just leave this to the publisher.   Andor is sorry to hear that ALG will not send a treatise for their upcoming omnibus volume. It is unfortunate because the study would have been on the occasion of the 600 year jubilee of Pécs University's, of which ALG is the first and most known scholar. But to include ALG in the ceremony, Andor asks him to participate as an invited speaker and he will publish his address later. He hopes that ALG agrees with this suggestion and accepts the offer.   Jenő hopes that ALG still remembers their meeting 20 years ago in Kassa, Hungary. Fehér Mátyás was his name back then. Since then he has moved to Argentina where he has left the Order; he used to be a black friar. Jenő managed to rescue and bring with him medieval materials and compilations of great importance. Now Jenő would like to sell some of these in America. He asks ALG for his confidential help in finding possible buyers or publishers who would be interested in his work "Proceedings of the Hungarian Medieval Heathen Inquisition.   He thanks ALG for his letter, a copy of his article, and the many interesting news. He sends information once again on the mysterious Fehér Jenő and his enigmatic book. ALG, too, has already investigated the subject. The author has published his book on Medieval Hungarian Inquisition in Buenos Aires, Argentina, but nobody knows wheather what he writes is true or not. Thus, in Hungary, scholars question his source material and his Hungarian translations of the Latin text in the codicies. He hopes to see ALG again soon in France. Hungarian

  As a member of a well known Hungarian family, who are devout Catholics, Károly wishes to send his son to study at Notre Dame. Now they live in Venezuela but both his sons speak perfect English. He would be obliged if ALG would put in a good word for his son to get accepted. As the universities in Caracas are all influenced by Marxist professors he is reluctant to send his son there.   In 1963, László visited his mother and his hometown the first time after 15 years. He is sorry to note that the statue of Saint Norbert that used to be in the Premontré School has dissapeared.   Tibor received Dr. Francis D. Lazenby's letter. For the records, he wishes to clarify to ALG that his bookseller's shop is helping both Americans and Hungarians by spreading news about Hungary. Tibor, owner of Hungarian Bookstore, just published and sent out "True Hungary" to 700 universities and libraries for free. He knows that books in Europe are cheeper. But Hungarian books here are sold at higher price to compensate for shipping costs and exchange of currency. Any privy, such as ALG, should support this endeavour. Hungarian
