  József is part of the first generation that graduated from Gödöllő in 1931. He shares information concerning the monastic quarters and church at Jászó, which he recently visited. Then he also met their old teacher, Lágyi Kornél. He would be happy to meet ALG on his next visit to Budapest. Hungarian

  Ottó thanks ALG for his kind letter he received in the summer. He, and his former classmates, met at Gödöllő this summer. Ottó encloses two pictures about the school and its viscinity. On the building, with big letter it's now written "Agrarian University", but under the plaster over the wall the old script "Virtute Vinces" is still visible.   Imre encloses an article having to do with the new Zimándi Pius book on the 1956 Revolution. He also asks ALG to send a memoir, a letter sending a message to his former students, together with a recent picture. This material will be published in the priory's newspaper at Gödöllő.   Ottó did not write sooner because he wanted to write about their trip to Jászó, Slovakia. There were 85 of them traveling with two buses. They visited Hungarian a high-school and old Premontré Orders in Slovakia all in terrible conditions. Back at Gödöllő, he visited Fényi Ottó yesterday to discuss the rehabilitation of old church properties by the government. Hungarian

  Imre sends his regards from New Jersey where he is on vacation until the end of January. Last year, he was lucky to catch and watch the TV interview with ALG, which was broadcasted late at night in Budapest. There are lots of news in the air about ALG, his interviews and distinctions. ALG's pupils from Gödöllő are very proud of him and constantly mention his name even in his absence. Here in the United States he contacted many Premontré graduates who all keep in touch with ALG. Unfortunately, the Prémontré Abbey and School at Gödöllő, Hungary, is left with nothing. But his brother and Imre are still fighting for it. Imre asks ALG, the main patron of the Order, to send an autobiography, including events he lived through in his emmigration, for the Orders newspaper. Hungarian

  The next day after they talked on the phone, Lóri called the Ministerial Secretariat and asked for an appointment. The day after he met with Dr. Szentgyörgyi, who was happy to make copies of and inform ALG concerning the relevant 1991 ordinance. He is enclosing this material for ALG's consideration.   Ottó is sad to note that the University makes a fuss and refuses to return the building to the Order. But, in a different building on the church premises, they will open the doors of the parochial school in September. Father Albin will probably inform ALG about the humble way they live in Hungary.   Győző sends his regards and congratulates ALG for his medal awarded by the Hungarian Government, finally Hungary acknowledging ALG's excellence in scientific research that furthers the reputation of other Hungarians who live abroad.   Ottó encloses few pictures taken at the reunion as a sign of appreciation for ALG's effort to make the long trip in order to see the students whom he thought long ago. They were all very grateful that he didn't forget them. He sends his biography, adding that he has never been member of the Communist Party.   To Ottó's great surprise, the Hungarian TV broadcasted an interview with ALG a month ago. Ottó was surprised because the program did not mention ALG's name in their brochure so few people knew about it. He will make arrangements to purchase the ALG interview from the TV to be played back at future events or reunions. He inquires about the time when the interview was recorded. Ottó did find out in advance about ALG's radio interview last spring and called all his classmates to inform them. He is sad to note that Zalán has been involved in politics and did not show up at the reunion. Hungarian

  Győző is glad to note that their 50th reunion was very pleasant. However it was sad that the waiting staff at the banquet was unattentive and not polite at all. He inquires about the possibility of ALG using his influence to stop the emergency food aid that is being sent to the Soviet Union. Hungarian

  ALG is sad to note that he was not able to reach Ottó during his last visit in Budapest, Hungary. He intended to pay for the Mécs book, but he doesn't know the price. ALG also intended to invite Ottó to his high provost mass, but it seems that Ottó did not receive ALG's earlier message. ALG collects every memorabilia having to do with Gödöllő and sends them to the Daylesford Abbey where his former student, Dr. Ted Antry, is a prior. The Abbey is close to Philadelphia. ALG is sad to hear that at the universal chapter-house nobody mentioned them. As far as Veszelovszky is concerned, he not only did not mention ALG's proposition but also didn't take the floor whatsoever. ALG plans to talk to him to find out what really happened. He already has in his Notre Dame library collection the works of Karsai and Stuhlmann Patrick. Hungarian

  Yesterday György mailed to ALG the "The report cards of the years 1924-1932 of the Gymnasium of the Prémontré Canonical Order and the corresponding Norbertine Boarding School". This documentation was carefully preserved, bound, and handed over to György by his father when he turned 18. He needed a permit to send the material abroad. As far as the National Széchenyi Library's permit is concerned, once György toled them who the recipient is, ALG, they immediately issued it. György thinks that this material proves that the principles and the teaching methods of the Prémontré Canonical Order was ahead of it's time. Those few who know it and are still alive are grateful for this. ALG ought to send the item they talked about in Budapest to his wife's cousin's address to London. Hungarian

  ALG did not write sooner because he was very busy traveling. The Book arrived in perfect condition. Since then they have already talked on the phone and ALG made arrangements to send the birth-certificate to London. ALG thanks György for his kind words about his former professors, including ALG.   French School at Gödöllő. ALG was the founder of this institution in 1938 and led the school until 1948 when the buildings and the surrounding land was nationalized by the state. The institute was the most important predecessor of today's bilingual school aroun Hungary. Hungarian

  Ottó is sad to note that their old professor, Dr. Stefancsik, has died. The monastic quarters and convents at Gödöllő are undergoing renovation: The whitewashed frescos and murals are repainted and statutes from the basement are put back in place. But these are only minor repairs as the really valuable things were either stolen or distroyed in 1948. Ottós wife, Edit, sends her regards to ALG. Hungarian

  Pista thanks ALG for his letter and the copy of his chapter. The chapter of ALG's book will be translated by Ravasz Laci's wife. Pista hopes to see ALG this summer but asks him to let him know in advance the dates of his visit so he can plan. After 20 years of waiting, Pista finally obtained the licence for a phone.   Károly's class, which graduated in 1938, will organize the 50th reunion this summer. Since ALG is their only priest-teacher still alive, Károly wants to know when he will visit Budapest this summer. They will move the date of the reunion to this time to make it easier for ALG to attend the banquet and the Sunday high mass. Hungarian

  ALG will visit Budapest, Hungary, at the beginning of September. If this is not a good time to organize the reunion, ALG would meet them regardless just like in the past. ALG's student, Dr. Domonkos, is currently giving lectures in Budapest and ALG plans to meet him as well. Dr. Domonkos informed ALG about the horribly high prices in Budapest. Thus ALG doesn't know yet at which Hotel he'll stay. He can't afford $155/night at Hilton. Hungarian

  György sends information concerning the status of parochial schools in Hungary. It seems that the state now supports the rehabilitation of such schools. He thinks that ALG ought to establish again the Prémontré Canonical Order with its educating boarding-school and its excellent didactical, educational program. If such a thing was possible at Gödöllő in the old king's castle, ALG would be the only person to accomplish this endeavour. Hungarian

  After staying out of politics for many years, József has recently decided to join the Hungarian-Israeli Fraternity. He attaches his study on the Reichmann family's fortune in Toronto.   ALG thanks Benedek for the pictures about the Jászó Chapel and its viscinity. Per ALG's request, Prior Dr. Theodore Antry of the Norbertine Abbey at Daylesford, collects and keeps every material having to do with Jászó, now Jasov in Chechoslovakia. ALG was born in Hungary, but he never regretted to join the Slovak Canonical Order at Jászó, instead of joining the Hungarian Order at Csornya. The Prémontré Canons of Csornya reestablished their Order in California. But ALG did not like the spirit of the Order when he visited them last time. ALG is sad to note that since Laurisin Lajos has died, he has no friends in America. Canon Raszlaviczy is dead and buried at the Daylesford Abbey. ALG sends information concerning former students of Gödöllő's Gymnazium who live in the United States and are all still indebted to their teachers. ALG regrets that he could not contact Benedek at Jászó when he was attending a conference in Prague last year. Hungarian

  László is happy to hear that ALG intends to visit Hungary in October. Since his wife and László are planning to travel to Japan on October 22nd, he asks ALG to visit one or two days earlier so that they can meet. László invites ALG over for a dinner party at their house. He asks ALG for his favourite Hungarian dish and preferred drinks. He also suggests a reunion with Bajor and his other pupils later in October. László hopes that the enclosed picture that was taken of his class in 1930 at Gödöllő will call nice memories to ALG's mind. He eagerly waits for ALG's response. Hungarian

  The reunion in June was cancelled and postponed to October for ALG's visit. Ottó will show ALG's considerate letter to the pupils of ALG. He is sad to note that both Bolváry Jenő and Witzig Bandi passed away. He asks ALG to fix the date of the reunion ceremony and the High Mass in the Church of Saint Michael on St. Margaret's Island in Budapest, where he is honorary provost, until mid-September. Hungarian

  László sends information concerning their 50 reunion, which was held in May. ALG's letter, read by Bajor Pista, reverberated from ALG's old youthful humor that he has always had even when he was the master of the boarding house. Thus the solidarity of the 1936 graduating class derives from this special Norbertine intellect, spirit and education. László thinks that the character-building spirit he incepted for 8 years of his formal education in the Norbertine Order prepared him to endure later hardships in life with dignity; every society should establish high schools that teach morals and humanity. Now, unfortunately, people in Hungary erroneously think that the Norbertine Canonical Order has long been extinct. László sends an autobiographical note, including his unjust dismissal from the Department of Agriculture and memories of his established family. In 1948 he became a class enemy because of his family descent. László will consult with Bajor Pista's recital of the reunion events to make sure nothing is left out for ALG. He thanks ALG for the class's commemoration during his celebration and invites him to his house on his next visit. Hungarian

  It will be impossible for ALG to attend the reunion because he will be busy preparing his new publication for the Frankfurt Book-festival, which will be on the 1st of October. ALG is sad to miss this special event and promises to talk to his them on the phone during the ceremony. ALG, now an old man, is happy to see his Prémontré pupils' unparalleled loyalty they show to him. He, too, treasures a book published by them in 1940, with a class photo attached to it. During his visit ALG plans to held a celebration in October in Budapest and invites Ottó and his former classmates to this event, following a dinner.   ALG is happy to hear that his pupils pay reverence to their professors -- dead or alive. Unfortunately he can't attend the festivities but he will send a letter of salutation with Dr. Luttor Kálmán. ALG earned his Phd exactly 50 years ago from the Pázmány Péter University. Then he was busy studying in Budapest and in the evenings taking care of his pupils in the Gödöllő boarding school. Nevertheless ALG still remembers most of them. He probably doesn't recall those who lived out. He sends information about István's classmates living abroad. ALG remembers the poetry and songs unique to Gödöllő at that time that teachers and students all sang together. He hopes his pupils will have a good time at their 50th reunion. Hungarian

  Géza did not write sooner because he has been sick. He wishes belated happy new year. Zsoldos Zoli is well, but his cousin, the real Hápi, is ill with lungcancer. Life is difficult in Hungary, therefore "the boys" don't get together any more. But Géza thinks that ALG's visit to Hungary would put them in touch with each other again. Hungarian

  Ottó is happy to note that he finally got married with Edit after 36 years. He encloses a photo of their wedding. Ottó now lives at Gödöllő together with her new wife but visits his brother in Budapest regularly. His brother has been ill last year. Gödöllő is not the same old charming place as it used to be and as ALG remembers it. Instead it's an ugly big city with lots of concrete buildings. He informs ALG about former classmates, who fled Hungary and as a consequence lost contact.
