- CALG 10/30.07 Letter : Huszár Ottó to ALG 1996/0709
Ottó thinks that the Saint Norbert Day celebration at Gödöllő was successful. Ottó is sorry to hear from ALG's secretary that ALG is in the hospital. He sends news having to do with the political and technical intelligentsia, and related magazines, from Hungary. He is sorry for bothering ALG with so many different themes and articles, but he would like him to be informed of the current situation. Hungarian
- CALG 10/30.08 Document : Highlight of Ifj. Fekete István's novel "Castaway Nation" 1996/1026

- CALG 10/30.10 Letter : Márton Hugó to ALG 1996/0501
Hugó begs pardon for his delay in writing. He thanks ALG for the name-day greetings and for the "American Hungarian" weekly articles. He learned form a student of ALG of ALG's trip to Budapest in June. This would be a good time for ALG to visit Gödöllő as well and forgive those who offended him. Hugó advises ALG not to be resentful and to make the trip on June 8th. He would like to send a telegramm message containing the Pope's blessing and he asks ALG to fill out the necessary form for this. Hungarian
- CALG 10/30.11 Letter : Ifj. Fekete István to ALG 1997/0417
István is happy to hear that ALG likes his writings. He would like to stand all demands of his former professors and his father, who was Hungary's paramount writer. István intends to publish his novel in Hungary, however he will not benefit from it financially. He congratulates ALG for his past and future decorations. Hungarian
- CALG 10/30.12 Letter : Ifj. Fekete István to ALG 1996/0805
Although István feels honoured by ALG's offer to thee and thou him, he will not be able to do that. Many students from Gödöllő, including István, hold ALG in venerations and liked him a lot, unlike most of their Canon Professors. István hopes that ALG will enjoy his commentaries for many years to come. He thanks ALG for the satiric qualms about Bill Clinton. Hungarian
- CALG 10/30.13 Letter : Dr. Igaly György to ALG 1997/0505
György learned from Dragsits Imre of ALG's visit to Budapest. He invites ALG, as honorary guest, to their 65th high school reunion at Gödöllő on June 8. He attaches an invitation to the ceremony and asks ALG to send the required forms back soon. Hungarian
- CALG 10/30.14 Letter : Endrey Gyula to ALG 1997/0130
Gyula would be very happy to see ALG in June and invites him to the reunion. He sends information concerning the 50th anniversary of the last Matura in the French College at Gödöllő. He asks ALG to celebrate mass at the St. Michaels Church in Budapest. After mass on Sunday, June 8th, the class will gather in a restaurant for an informal lunch. Gödöllő would be the best location, but Gyula understands ALG's reservation of not entering the territory of his former French College again. He asks ALG to send his preferences and advice regarding the ceremony to be able to accomodate them. Hungarian
- CALG 10/30.15 Letter : Endrey Gyula to ALG 1997/0430
Gyula is happy to hear that ALG will attend the anniversary. The Saint Margarite's Island restaurants are very expensive therefore the class will meet at the "Vasmacska", which is affordable to everybody. Gyula will make arrangements for ALG to have a good time upon his visit. Hungarian
- CALG 10/30.16 Letter : Fejéregyházi Mándy Szabolcs to ALG 1999/0419
Szabolcs thanks for ALG's encouraging words concerning the commemorating yearly Almanach Szabolcs is putting together. He sends information of his family life. Szabolcs hopes to see ALG in America or at Gödöllő again. Hungarian
- CALG 10/30.17 Letter : Huszár Ottó to ALG 1997/0810
Ottó sends some articles that he cut out from major Hungarian post-Communist papers. The themes are typical of Hungary. The maverick weekly "Magyar Forum" targets a small strata of the society, mainly Christian intellectuals with a strong nationalist bias. This paper regularly runs articles that cluster two Hungarian speaking mobs living in Hungary: the Romas and Jews. One of these cluster of people has been constantly asking, since 1945, for compensation in satisfaction of wrongs done during WWII. Ottó thinks that every article of this paper is worthy of note. He will receive his Golden Diplome on September 5 at the Hungarian Technical University in Budapest and encloses a copy of the University president's note. Hungarian

He sees now that a meeting of former students of ALG will not happen. But he would like to meet ALG soon either at Budapest or Gödöllő. Hungarian

- CALG 12/02.01 Letter : Kiss Ágnes to ALG 1958/0801
Ágnes thanks ALG for his encouraging words he wrote in her guest book at the exhibition. She is glad that ALG liked her paintings and that he picked one to buy. Although it is contrary to the practice of geniune artists to accept royalty fees for their work, Ágnes nevertheless asks ALG to inform her of the fee he is willing to pay for the picture. She is pushed for money. She sends a short biography. Hungarian
- CALG 12/02.02 Title : "Possonyi László 70 years ago" by Hegyi Béla
Retrospect of the major events of Possonyi László's past on the occasion of his birthday. Hungarian
- CALG 12/02.03 Letter : Simon Ernő to ALG
Ernő received ALG's letter. He is happy that ALG thinks of them. He would like to see ALG and invites him to visit Szeged, Hungary. Tha family plans to travel to Greece this summer. They would also like to travel to America, but a trip -- through the travel agency -- would cost them as much as the price of a new car. The Simon family is not able to afford that. Hungarian
- CALG 12/03 Folder : [Hungarian Correspondence] 1955-1957
- CALG 12/03.01 Letter : Dr. Pandúr Ilona to ALG 1956/0216
Perhaps due to the revolution in Hungary, Ilona has not received an answer to her previous letter. Now she sends a few lines asking ALG for help. The person, who brings the letter, is Ilona's husband's cousin and he is the one ALG needs to help out. His name is Szentistvány László and is now in exile in Bezdan, Yugoslavia. But he wants to leave for the United States. Ilona asks ALG to find him in the refugee camp and to offer help. She does not have any news of Ottó. Hungarian
- CALG 12/03.02 Letter : Karánszebesy Gyuláné to ALG 1956/1219
Gyuláné would have written sooner, but she had to get over her difficulties first. Since she does not have any news of her son and his family, she thinks that their escape fell through and that the family stayed in Hungary. She inquires about Ottó. Gyuláné would like to know if he fled the country to join ALG or not. Gyuláné remembers the good old days at Pécs, Hungary, when she took long walks around the vineyard. Once Gyuláné has met ALG's parents. She was touched by ALG's mother deep piety as she remembered her son, ALG, who recently took the monastic vows. Gyuláné wishes happy Christmas. Hungarian
- CALG 12/03.03 Letter : Dr. Pandúr Ilona to ALG 1956/0805
Since Ilona thinks that ALG might not remember her, she sends a few lines introducing herself. She met Ottó a year ago in Budapest, Hungary, and learned from him of ALG. Ilona thinks that it is good to think of the past sometimes and to keep in touch with old acquaintances. She hopes that ALG will send a letter soon. Hungarian
- CALG 12/03.04 Letter : Szénásy Piroska to ALG 1956/0210
Piroska's informs ALG of the major events in her life. Piroska is concerned about her health and her financial future and would like to ask ALG for help. ALG might be able to collect money on her behalf. Piroska never thought that she would ask for money in her life. Hungarian
- CALG 12/03.05 Letter : Márton Hugó to ALG 1955/1220
Hugó thanks ALG for the check. He thinks that ALG's visit to Rome was successful. Rodriguez silence and lack of comment during the visit just affirms ALG's success. Hugó agrees with ALG that the 50 cent membership fees payable to the Hungarian Historical Society will not end up in the pocket of the Order. But Hugó wishes that the Society at least should serve Hungarian interests. He informs ALG of the initial reforms concerning the decrees of the Order. The reforms have caused discord within the Premontré Order in Rome. He wishes happy Christmas and sends his new Year's greetings. Hungarian
- CALG 12/03.06 Letter : Pálinkás László to ALG 1956/0915
László would like to publish a spread in the 1956 Corvinas as ALG have requested. The advertisement of ALG's book would cost him $16, which is a reduced price especially for ALG. Also László runs a shorter book review written by Prof. Crinó in Florence. Should ALG decide to write a study of Várdai Balázs, he is to do it before October 15 in 10-20 pages. László will translate it to Italian. He thanks ALG for sending information of the Rockefeller foundation. Since Corvinas is the only foreign language Hungarian literary paper, László thinks he needs to do everything to keep it alive. He asks for membership payment. Hungarian
- CALG 12/04 Folder : [Correspondence -- Foreign Languages] 1960-1964
- CALG 12/04.01 Letter : Dr. Schultheiss Emil to ALG 1961/0308
Emil thanks ALG for his encouraging words he sent on February 19. ALG is the first Hungarian scholar to praise Emil's extensive research on Medieval medical history. But Emil is concerned that his work in the Arch. für Kulturgeschichte is incomplete. He has read several of ALG's articles and books, except the Skara House at the Medieval University of Paris, which is very hard to find in Hungary. If ALG is interested in the Albicus manuscripts Emil would be happy to send it on microfilm. Hungarian
- CALG 12/04.02 Letter : ? from Rome to ALG 1960/0512
He thinks that ALG should not be angry with the General in Rome because he talks with everybody, not only ALG, in such an indirect way. It has to be a localism specific to Rome. Also he agrees with ALG that Hungarian Communists now try to coax young people out of practicing religion by providing them a progressive literary and cultural milieu, like Mikszáth. ALG's books, however, can only be found in the so called archives in Budapest. Upon his return to Budapest, Leo will help him find ALG's works. He would be happy to talk personally to ALG after so long. Hungarian
- CALG 12/04.03 Letter : Herz Lorand to ALG 1960/0818
Lorand encloses two photos taken at the high-school graduation reunion. He was happy to hear ALG's message to the class on this festive occasion. Lorand, as ALG's former student and friend, will always be thankful to ALG for the wonderful ideas he taught him. Unfortunately these are hard to practice in todays modern Hungary. Hungarian

- CALG 12/04.06 Letter : Eckhardt Sándor to ALG 1960/0701
It would be contrary to Sándor's wishes to publish his memoirs outside of Hungary: Hungarian authorities do not allow him to travel to conferences held abroad despite his many published academic work. He congratulates ALG for his appearance in Stockholm. Unfortunately Sándor will not attend the conference. If ALG contributes to the upcoming monograph about King Mátyás, the study will be an excellent work. Sándor regrets that ALG and Ilike, his wife, will not be able to have lunch in Paris because her travel permit was denied. She finished translating the "Le sang noir". Sándor sends his regards to Prof. Francois and hopes that he still remembers him from the linguistic conferences. Hungarian
- CALG 12/04.07 Letter : Dr. Széll Sándor to ALG 1963/0130
Sándor received the payment and, as soon as the Hungarian badges are done, he will send 200 of them. It will show the black eagle in golden laureate. He invites ALG to the national pilgrimage held on June 27 in Aachen, Germany. This is where the relics of the paramount Hungarian King's, Saint Ladislau's, relics are kept. With his permission, the Society would like to circulate ALG's excellent study on this topic. Hungarian
- CALG 12/04.08 Letter : Horváth Hoensch Lorand to ALG 1961/0613

- CALG 12/04.09 Letter : Pista (Lágyi István) to ALG 1963/0328
Pista sends his congratulations for ALG's membeship in the French Academy. He asks ALG to send 3 copies of his recent monograph. He will distribute them to two libraries in Budapest. He also asks ALG for some old University of Notre Dame almanachs and old issues of National Geographic magazines. Pista informs ALG of new trends occuring in the social and cultural life of Budapest. The only way Pista is able to send rare stamps for ALG to collect is glueing them on the envelope and attaching the National Bank's permit. He is surprised to hear that ALG feels lonely. He inquiries about the geographical patterns and natural abundance of the State of Indiana and the City of South Bend. Hungarian
- CALG 12/04.10 Letter : Mezőssy Mária to ALG 1963/02
Ash Wednesday. Mária thanks ALG for the "Ave Maria" letter. She sees now that ALG has been faithful to her for the past 7 years. She encloses a poem she wrote to venerate him entitled "Green Thursday". Mária thinks that ALG is immortal both in his academic works and in his private life. Hungarian
- CALG 12/04.11 Letter : Köldi Kocsis László to ALG 1963/0327
László was very happy to receive ALG's letter. Now that he lives at Pécs again, he has heard many great news of ALG from the papers. Kazi, ALG's priest who assisted him during confirmation, died in 1950. László lives in solitude and stopped writing poems. Mécs László sent him a letter from Buda. He does not know if this letter will reach ALG or not. Hungarian
- CALG 12/04.12 Letter : Dénes Ferenc and Magda to ALG 1963/0411
Ferenc, or Feri, thanks ALG for his letter and the Hungarian news. He is happy to learn of ALG's great success, an achievement that reflects back to all Hungarians living in exile. He invites ALG to visit them in Los Angeles. He is sad to note that his father has died. It seems that the certificate of inheritance is not fair as he has problems concerning the house in Kis Király street. His wife and him talk about ALG many times. Hungarian

- CALG 12/06.01 Letter : Schwartz Elemér to ALG 1952/1025
Elemér does not know ALG's address thus he sends this letter with sister Antonia. He founded a new Catholic Academy named Academia Catholica Hungarica seated in Rome. He would like to nominate ALG for full membership and asks him to send his bibliography. ALG deserves to be member of a Hungarian Academy, but up until now he was denied fellowship. He sends information about the newly established institution. Hungarian
- CALG 12/06.02 Letter : Dr. Moharos Sándorné, Gyöngyi, to ALG
Gyöngyi will try to find out the case of the vineyard next time she visits Pécs. She hopes that what ALG wrote is true concerning the vineyard. Gyöngyi's brother, who lives in America, does not keep in touch. She would need an official invitation from him to visit. Thus there is no chance that Gyöngyi will pay a visit to ALG soon. ALG and Gyöngyi have not seen each other in 20 years. She transmitted ALG's regards to Kovács Sanyi. Hungarian

They are happy to hear that ALG will visit the Church of St. Margaret Island Provostship again for a reunion. The boarders of St. Margaret Seminary will organize their reunion exactly on that Sunday when ALG will say mass in the Church. János thinks it would be best if they combine the two reunions and the two graduating classes together attend ALG's mass at 10 am.He is sorry for not writing sooner, but Sister Désireé was sick for a long time.
