  ALG has indeed influential friends everywhere since Otto' has already met the KLM's director, Mr. Wisse, who invited him to his apartment in order to talk privately about various job opportunities. He is also happy to hear that ALG has invited him for a visit this summer and he will immediately file the neccessary paperwork to obtain a visa. Hungarian

On behalf of his bosses's, Dr. Kabay Sándor, son he requests information about pursuing studies at a Western-European university. Dr. Kabay has travelled to Paris a lot and now asks ALG's advice in studying at Paris. They must know each other from Gödöllő. Also, it is not only difficult to reach Prof. Gömöri in person, but also he is not willing to give out any information about ALG's diploma over the phone. Hungarian

  Ottó thanks for the detailed information regarding getting admitted into a university abroad. He recently met their common friend, Mr. Szél, from the university press. These days, more and more tourists visit Budapest, including Americans, who are clearly well to do people. Ottó, however, even today doesn't own a car. Hungarian

  On November 1st, Ottó visited their hometown, Pécs. He asks ALG to inquire at the American Hungarian Consulate about what has happened to his share of the family estate. Now ALG is listed as the rightful owner of the land, but the state considers it abandoned property and sublets it out to somebody. Back in 1957 Ottó requested ALG's section back from the state but to no avail. Neither can he get their stolen furniture back. ALG would not recognize the place where he grew up, should he visit sometimes soon. Due to modern developments, the skyline of Makár, where the family estate is, has changed so drastically that it is almsot unrecognizable. Hungarian

His son keeps bragging about ALG at school and can't wait to meet him in person one day. Ottó met Mr. Dömény from the university press and told him the great news that ALG had received an honorary degree from the Ambrosiana. Hungarian

  Ottó invites ALG to visit Vienna on a Saturday. He asks for his cousin's, Franci's, address in Germany because he plans to visit him. He has heard that the Pécs University, where ALG graduated, was established 600 years ago and that plans are being made to celebrate this event. Consequently everybody, including Dr. Fényes, is hoping that ALG is going to be a celebrant of this event. Hungarian

  ALG must have forgotten about them because they don't get any letter from him lately. Mary complains about the size of their new apartment, which is as big as one room, but she likes the brand new fixtures. Ottó-László will be received into the Church in October and, following his uncle's footsteps, he'll take up the name Astrik. Next year, they want to send him to the Piarist high-school. The school is very competitive and Ottó's current grades are not good enough for him to get accepted. She asks ALG, who is so well connected in higher circles, to help on his behalf. Hungarian

  Mary is glad that ALG called the director of the Piarist highschool to admit Ottó-László next year to the school. Without ALG's effort, their son would not get into this great school. When she visited the director, Balogh Ferenc, he already had been waiting for her and knew about the case. Now, the whole family is anxiously waiting for the school's decision.   Ottó-Lászlós has been accepted to the Piarist highschool. If it were for his grades alone, and for other personal matters at his school, he would have never gotten into this highschool, now considered the best in the country. Also he asks for another letter of invitation from ALG. With this letter he would be permitted to leave the country and visit ALG who is lecturing in Koppenhagen this spring. Hungarian

  He thanks for ALG's letter. Ottó-László grades at school have been slowly improving. He decided to become a priest. Ottó asks for an affidavit again to go and meet ALG in Europe next summer. He wishes happy birthday to ALG and tells him that the family will celebrate it by keeping their tradition of setting the table for him next to them on that special day every year and pouring wine for him in an empty glass pretending he is there.   Mary's best Christmas present of all has been ALG's call in December. Meanwhile, she received the package delivered by a young Hungarian lady who had met ALG not long ago and brought news of him. Mary was told that ALG is a very pleasant and kind man and at the same time has a commanding and respectable personality. Since it is very poor, she also asks ALG whether he would like to contribute financially to the Piarist school or not. Hungarian

  He has received the copy of the ambassador's letter. Ottó speculates that soon ALG will receive an honorary degree not only from the Ambrosiana but also from the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. Ottó is planning a work related visit to Vienna in December and will be put up at the same place where ALG usually stays, "Hotel de France". Because he failed the second time, he will have to repeate the freshman year. Mary was surprised to see that ALG didn't help his nephew pass his exam by writing a letter to the school.   Ottó thanks ALG for the two letters he sent from Italy. He is glad to hear that ALG met his partner from work, Mr. Gandolfi, and that they had dinner together at the best restaurant of Milan. Mr. Gandolfi is a highly respected man in his circle of friends, more particularly since he is their biggest buyer. Ottó asks ALG about his travel plans this year and makes the proposition to meet in Belgrade (or at any other place that suits ALG better). He wants to take Mary and his son, Ottó-László, with him this time. His son can't wait to meet ALG. Since ALG is the owner, Ottó also suggests him to try to sell his asset in Pécs. Hungarian

  He thanks ALG for the $20 Christmas present. Now Ottó-László is doing much better in school than he did last year and is looking forward to his mid-year report. He would be happy if ALG would send him the works of the French proper jesuit P. Teilhard de Chardin in Hungarian, annotated by Resek Román. The material doesn't exist in the whole country despite the fact that it's a required text on the exam. He would be happy to see ALG this summer. Hungarian

  Amid an extremely chaotic travelling schedule, when Ottó doesn't know in which European city he will be next day, he is still trying to make plans to see ALG. From Milan ALG could visit him next week in Coper, near Trieste, provided Ottó will still be there. He also sends information about the family estate in Makár, near Pécs. It was worth fighting for the vineyard and getting it back after it had been confiscated by the Rákosi regime. Today it is a valuable property in a thriving part of the town. Hungarian

ALG's new biography proceedings makes Ottó swell with family pride again. Ottó exchanged post with somebody at work and consequently he won't be able to travel so much any more.   Mary and his son arrived home safe from Yugoslavia. She is happy that her long-cherished dream finally has come through and that she met ALG again. She will always remember ALG, wearing his black hat, waiving and smiling at them at the Zagreb airport as he told them good-bye. She regrets that Ottó wasn't able to join them. He is sad that they are so far apart and don't see each other as often as their parents wished them to. In his recent letter, ALG has asked Ottó not be so harsh with Ottó-László. Ottó is surprised by ALG's attitude, because this is the way both of them were brought up. Above all, he is jelous because he thinks that the kid likes his uncle more than him.   The family plans the dedication ceremony for April. Ottó wishes for meeting ALG in Austria, where they could spend some time together and have a nice vacation. Recently, while she has been turning over the pages of ALG's book "Skara House" she noticed with amazement that the book is dedicated to Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Bedolfe. But Mary always thought that Barbara Bedolfe, ALG's friend, is not a married woman. Now she is confused and a little jelous too.
