Brummel of U.S. CATHOLIC to tell him what he has been up to and to ask him to publish his article. 8/11--Editor of U.S. CATHOLIC writes back to say they will not publish it. 7/13--Gordon writes Kevin Axe of U.S .CATHOLIC to say that he has not yet heard anything regarding the status of his article. 7/16--Gordon writes to James O'Gara of COMMONWEAL to update him on the Eller trial and to ask him to publish his article. By "Crime Wave" Gordon is referring to the crime of refusing to register for the draft. He says that there are an estimated half-million who have committed this 'crime' and the Selective Service system has expanded to draft more effectively and to find these draft dodgers. Gordon warns against military domination and encourages the Church to stand behind its members in their decisions. He also asserts that the law and the penalty concerning conscription should be re-evaluated.
