instant informing him of the destination of the six Irish priests
sent by (Charles IV, King of Spain).

Antonio Porlier Marquis of Bajamer sent to (Felipe Joseph
de Tres-Palacios) bishop of Havana (Cuba) a letter dated Oct. 17,

1791, whose tenor is contained in the accompanying copy. The first
part of the letter states that following the recommendation of
(Estevan Miro) the King has allowed the English in (New Orleans)
to have a chaplain. Henriquez has given this appointment to Father
Patrick Mangan. The second part of the letter grants the request
of Miro that Irish pastors be appointed for people coming from
rivers flowing into the Ohio. Therefore Henriquez has appointed
(Father) George Murphy to be successor to Father Bernard de Deva,
O.M.Cap. at Attacapas, (Louisiana); (Father James Coleman to the
parish at Tanbecbe (Tombigbee, Alabama) from which Father
Constantine McKenna is to be transferred to Mobile, (Alabama)
to take the place of Father Francisco Garcia who is going to the
post of Valenzuela, (Alabama); (Father) Charles Burke to Baton
Rouge, (Louisiana) and New Feliciana, (Louisiana); Father
Francis Lennan to Nogales, (now Vicksburg, Mississippi);
(Father) Patrick Walsh to be chaplain of the second battalion of
the regiment of Louisiana.
