1793 Mar. 26

Quinones, Estevan de, notary public
New Orleans, (Louisiana)

Documents concerning the transfers of Father Bernardo de Deva, O.M.Cap. to the church to be constructed at the post of Valenzuela (Louisiana) Father Manuel Garcia, an Observantine to Valenzuela and the chaplaincy of the first battalion of the permanent regiment of Louisiana and Father Thirso de Peleagonzalo, O.M.Cap. to be assistant pastor of the church of St. Louis in New Orleans.

--------
1793 Feb. 26

Henriquez, (father) Theodoro Thirso Henrique
New Orleans, (Louisiana)

to Francisco (Luis Hector) Baron de Carondelet, Gov. of Louisiana
New Orleans

The accompanying paper will show Carondelet why Father de Deva would like to be transferred from the chaplaincy of the second batallion to a place in the country. Father Manuel Garcia who understands French is about to become pastor at Valenzuela; Father de Deva could be substituted for him. Father Garcia who could be assisted by Father Patrick Walhs (Walsh) could be made chaplain of the first batallion in which there are Spanish, French and English. This will be better than the old arrangement in which Father Thirso (de Peleagonzalo) had to find a priest who understood French to help him.
