to Manuel de Salcedo
(New Orleans, Louisiana)

Jo(a)quin Poisseau, a free negro, and Maria Teresa Gadeau, his wife, have been separated for a long time in spite of Hassett's efforts to reunite them. According to information the separation stems from the bad treatment Poisseau gives his wife. Hassett asks Salcedo to order the arrest of Poisseau, alias Marchand de Bordeaux, that he may be instructed and made to assume his duties as a Christian and husband.
