Salcedo, Manuel de
New Orleans, (Louisiana)

to Father Thomas Hasset(t)
(New Orleans, Louisiana)

Salcedo has ordered by a letter to Luisa (De la Ronde, widow of Andres Almonester (y Roxas), that the lamp in the Charity Hospital belonging to Francisco Munoz be turned over to Antonio Ramis, since there is proof without doubt from the letter of Father Ant(oni)o de Sedella, (O.M.Cap.).

In view of La Ronde's answer given to Hasset's letter of July 12, Hassett has determined to ask Sedella, pastor of the Cathedral, as it seems to Hassett that Sedella was administrator of the Hospital in 1786, when Munoz died. Sedella replied as Salcedo will see from the enclosed letter (no enclosure). Therefore Hassett asks again that the lamp be turned over to Ramis.

Salcedo, Manuel de
New Orleans, (Louisiana)

to Father Thomas Hasset(t)
(New Orleans, Louisiana)

Salcedo gave Luisa la Ronde Hassett's letter of July 12 about the lamp in the Charity Hospital. On July 15, she said as follows: "Since Ramis had no justification but his word to reclaim the lamp, she does not think it should be turned over to him. The lamp was listed in the inventory as belonging to the hospital. If Ramis can prove that the lamp belongs to Munoz it should be turned over to him." In view of the answer Hassett is to take any action necessary.

The lamp destined to light the Blessed Sacrament in the Charity Hospital and arranged by Almonaster as an endowment, is the same, according to Ramis, as the one given by Munoz to light the image of Our Lady of Sorrows. If it belongs there, it cannot be assigned to another purpose and Ramis must fulfill Monoz's disposition. Hassett asks Salcedo to verify this.
