to (Father Thomas Hassett)

Briones, chaplain of the First Battalion and in charge of the Second, informed Bishop Luis Penalver (y Cardenas) of the delay in celebrating Masses for intestate soldiers who answered that he would write the necessary letters about this matter. Almost two years have passed without reply. Briones asks Hassett to take steps whereby the Inspector General may pass on this point and communicate his orders to the military chief so that the chief may do as he sees fit.
