to Father Thomas Hasset(t) The governor of Baton Rouge told Salcedo on the 20th the following: "In compliance with Salcedo's order in the letter of October 25 in which Salcedo sent a copy of (Hassett's) petition about the fulfilling of Garley's bequest of 200 pesos to aid in building a church in Feliciana on the river of the same name, he has given the necessary order to Vicente Pintado, alderman of that district." to Manuel de Salcedo In a letter of August 8, the pastor of Pointe Coupee told Hassett that a man named Garley, now deceased, of Bayou Tonica in the district of New Feliciana had left in his will 200 pesos to be used to help build a church in Thompson's Creek and that the work was to be put under the supervision of the alderman and another responsible person. Garley's executor is ready to turn over the sum and Hassett is only waiting for Salcedo's order to turn the papers over to the government secretary. Therefore he asks Hassett to order Alderman Juan(?) Pintado to turn over the money. A. Draft (Spanish)
