Notes: This performance is the product of a four-week
residency by Kathleen Quinlan. In conjunction with the performance, our
course in Dance History, COTH 321, has focused upon the art and life of
Duncan and her great contemporary, Sergei Diaghilev. Of special
significance to the production is the setting, based on the
revolutionary design concepts of Edward Gordon Craig (1872-1966). Craig
and Duncan had an enormous personal and artistic influence upon each
other. Although they never actually collaborated together on a
production, they often spoke of such a venture. Our production unites
their work for the first time.
