He swears that he is a native of the above mentioned parish and a resident of Valenzuela since he was very small, that he is the son of Pedro Hebert and Susana Pitre, daughter of Juan Pitre and Margarita Feriot, daughter of Pedro Feriot and M(ari)a Potait; that Maria Burq(u)e is also a native of the above mentioned parish and from a tender age a resident of his own neighborhood, the daughter of Isabel Le Blanc and Fran(cis)co Xavier Burq(u)e, son of Carlos Burq(u)e, son of Martin Burque and Maria Potait, his intended wife's great grandparents and his own great-great grandparents; that his fiance is an orphan and poor and lives with her married sister who is poor and who cares for Maria's three small brothers also. Father (Isidro) Quintero, as secretary, writes in the margin at the beginning of this letter that (Hebert) appeared but does not know how to sign.

(Penalver y Cardenas, Luis), Bishop of
New Orleans, Louisiana

to Father (Pierre Joseph) Pedro Didie(r), O.S.B.
St. Louis, (Missouri)

Article 60 of Penalver's instruction of December 21, 1795 provides that each year the parishes send in the necrology book. The few that have come in are not clear so Penalver has written the enclosed formulary to be taken as a standard.
