In 1797 by order of the king there began in Madrid the publication of a periodical "Semanario de Agricultura y Artes," the prospectus of which is enclosed, to spread the knowledge of rural economy and industry. To extend the circulation of this magazine His Majesty recommended that the bishops make it known through the pastors to whom it is directed, urging them to spend as much time as their ministry allows in furthering the temporal welfare of their parishioners. But having learned that few copies of this work have circulated, His Majesty wishes to remind the bishops of the previous order on this point sent out by the Minister of State that the pastors may pay for this out of the account of the church.
